Why IPS Matters
IPS in Serbia shares the same core idea: to simplify payments, remove delays, and offer affordable transactions. As global demand for instant payments grows, IPS positions Serbia alongside the world’s most advanced digital economies.

IPSgo builds on this foundation — helping merchants accept IPS payments with nothing more than a QR code and a smartphone camera.

The Instant Payment System (IPS), developed by the National Bank of Serbia, has revolutionized how people and businesses send and receive money — instantly, affordably, and securely. But IPS is not unique to Serbia. Around the world, central banks and private institutions have launched similar systems that enable real-time payments. Here are some of the most notable ones.

1. UPI – India
The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is one of the world’s most successful real-time payment systems, developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). It processes over 10 billion transactions per month and allows users to send money instantly using mobile apps like PhonePe, Google Pay, and Paytm.

2. PIX – Brazil
Launched by the Central Bank of Brazil in 2020, PIX quickly became the dominant payment method in the country. It enables instant transfers via QR codes or mobile numbers and is widely accepted by merchants and individuals alike.

3. Faster Payments – United Kingdom
The Faster Payments Service (FPS) has been active since 2008, allowing real-time bank transfers 24/7. It’s integrated into most UK banking apps and is commonly used for peer-to-peer and business payments.
